The working farm

Three generations of the same family have worked at Gilcar Farm in Emley, and it still remains to this day a successful working dairy farm - in fact our Six Mistle holiday cottage used to be the milking parlour!

Now the main farm is located across a country lane from the holiday cottages - so you won’t be disturbed when we start milking at 5am in the morning!

Although the majority of our cattle are located on the working farm site, we have sheep, young calves and mums-to-be in the fields adjacent to the cottages.

The original buildings date back to the 18th century and were once part of the late Lord Savile’s estate.
